Enchantment With Drugs

A sharp Christian always looks ‘behind the scenes’ to see how the god of this world is orchestrating his next deceptive and destructive device. If you open your eyes and are studying God’s Word, you can’t miss it.

Isn’t it a struggle to find a decent program on television to watch? Most often, public television has the best programs, but even many of them are questionable. What I want to point out in this teaching is the new wave of ADVERTISEMENTS that have swept the airwaves. But first, let us go to God’s Word to set the stage for this teaching.

Galatians 5: 16, 17 -- This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these [desires] are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

There are obviously two (2) ways to walk – by the flesh and by the Spirit. Both ways are in constant conflict and are contrary the one to the other. One way is by the five senses, the old man, and the other way is by the Spirit of God in Christ in you, the new man. One is the way of life and the other is the way of death.

Romans 8: 6 -- For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Galatians 5: 19, 20, 21 -- Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, WITCHCRAFT, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [Emphasis added]

Remember, these are the works of the flesh. We are going to focus on one term in Galatians 5: 20 in this teaching. And that is the meaning of the word "witchcraft". First of all, DO NOT misunderstand or take this teaching out of context. Before we begin, I DO BELIEVE that most medicines and prescription medicines are extremely helpful to millions of people with some type of physical or emotional problem. HOWEVER, prescription drug companies, influenced by the love of money, have taken matters to a dangerous extreme. Tell me you haven’t noticed a major increase in the ADVERTISEMENTS OF MEDICINES FOR ABOUT EVERY TYPE OF AILMENT OR EVEN MINOR DISCOMFORT THAT EXISTS. "Talk to your doctor" is what the major pharmaceutical companies are brainwashing millions of Americans with every day – day in and day out. Who do you think is really behind this movement to get as many people as possible dependent on drugs instead of on God’s healing Word?

II Corinthians 4: 4 -- In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I have watched and studied the pattern of these drug advertisements for many months and I have no doubt that Satan is behind the whole idea. Watch his timing. He knows that people are afraid and somewhat paranoid due to worldwide terrorist attacks. He preys on the weak points of a person or a society. He knows that people will turn to almost anything for peace so the devil decides to use drugs as his new device which will only give a TEMPORARY, COUNTERFEIT peace. He always adjusts his methods and devices to the present conditions. Don’t those advertisements for every kind of drug imaginable seem so attractive and professional? MOSTLY ALL OF THEM ARE STRAIGHT FROM HELL.

II Corinthians 11: 14 -- And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Now let’s get back to the definition of the word "witchcraft" in Galatians 5: 20. According to the Lexicon, we are told to turn to the word "Sorcery" for the meaning of "witchcraft".

There are basically two (2) meanings of the word and the first one is as follows:

1. "the preparing or using of medicine".

2. "the using of any kind of drugs, potions, or spells".

Oftentimes, a sorcerer is referred to as an ‘enchanter’ or one who practices ‘enchantment’.

Enchantment is defined as something that charms or delights greatly or gives great delight or pleasure; to bewitch or cast a spell over as by magic.

I had a wise family doctor tell me that most emotions we feel during the day such as some stress or anxiety or even some slight depression ARE NORMAL EMOTIONS!! God even tells us in His Word that we are expected to endure certain mental tribulations during our day. The god of this world is telling us TO TAKE A PILL every time we feel a little unhappy, distracted or have trouble concentrating! Many of these unnecessary drugs that millions of people are now taking are putting people in a counterfeit, temporary euphoric state of delight or pleasure. What happens when the drug wears off? Most of the time, the person experiences serious side effects and their body begins to build a resistance to the drug. Then they need MORE of the drug to experience the same effect. Or else the person must change to a stronger drug. Little by little, this person is becoming addicted to these drugs – and the ironic part, in many cases, is that THEY ARE NOT EVEN NECESSARY. This overall process that I have actually simplified here is well-designed by the devil himself and I prefer to refer to it as:

‘Enchantment With Drugs’

At this point, we need to go back to God’s Word in Galatians to compare and contrast the aforementioned works of the flesh with the results of spiritual growth. The latter has nothing to do with the WORKS of the flesh. The ‘fruit’ of the Spirit IS THE RESULT OF THE OPERATION OF THE NINE (9) MANIFESTATIONS OF THE SPIRIT mentioned in I Corinthians 12: 8, 9, 10.

Galatians 5: 22 to 26 -- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

This is quite a contrast to what we read in verses 19, 20, and 21 in the same chapter. If you learn to keep God first (Matthew 6: 33) and study (II Timothy 2: 15), you will eventually learn to operate all nine manifestations of Holy Spirit and in turn will manifest the fruit of the spirit. Then and only then will you have true peace, self-control, patience, etc., that are mentioned in Galatians 5: 22 and 23. YOU WON’T NEED ANY PILLS – you won’t need to be ‘enchanted’ with drugs. Almost every day, there is a new drug advertised on television. The adversary is working hard because he knows his time is short.

Let us repeat II Corinthians 4: 4 so we can learn this by repetition and never forget it.

Until Jesus Christ comes back, the devil controls this world. He does not own it. Jesus Christ defeated the works of the devil, but he did not yet destroy him. He still functions by deception. As many of our teachings state:

"The secret to his success is the secrecy of his moves".

You must never forget this! The true God’s Will for us PERTAINING TO HEALTH is clearly stated in the following two (2) verses:

III John 2 -- Beloved, I wish [pray] above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

I Peter 2: 24 -- Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were [past tense] healed.

If we can rise up to believe what these verses say, we will always have good health and we will not have a need for drugs. I do understand that this may not be that easy to do, but God’s Word says IT IS AVAILABLE. You need to STUDY God’s Word, not just talk about it. God does imply as to how we are to conduct our lives in regards to our health. It as so obvious that God hardly mentions some specifics such as eating right and exercising to take care of ourselves. IT’S COMMON SENSE. The adversary/devil/Satan deceives people into eating worthless, dangerous foods and hinders them from exercising. What happens? They develop some form of sickness or disease and then they treat THE EFFECTS and not THE CAUSE -- with drugs. I learned how God wants me to take care of myself by studying His Word – His blueprint for living – for about 35 years. I eat balanced healthy food – juice fresh fruits and vegetables – and walk about 20 to 40 miles per week. I also don’t drink or smoke. Remember, remove the cause and the effects will disappear.

I Corinthians 3: 16, 17 -- Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile [destroy] the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Don’t misunderstand these verses. God ‘ALLOWS’ a person to be destroyed. God must allow the enemy to do his dirty work if a person disobeys God. God is all light and CANNOT harm anyone in any way.

I John 1: 5 -- This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

We bring sickness and disease upon ourselves by not adhering to God and His Word who is always doing everything He can to help us. Why don’t we listen? Maybe we should start. Just remember to always do your best and God will do the rest.

You must always ‘look behind the scenes’ when dealing with the devices of this world because what appears to be truth may very well be a disguised lie from the pit of hell itself. That is why you need to know the genuine to recognize the counterfeit. Satan is a master of deception, but always remember that greater is he, Christ in you, than he that is in the world. Let us see what God’s Word says about how deceptive the god of this world can be.

II Corinthians 11: 13, 14, 15 – For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Notice the last part of verse 15. Everyone gets what they have coming to them and there is simply no escape from this immutable law of God.

Colossians 3: 25 -- But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Getting back to our main subject, you can see from the three verses in II Corinthians how deceiving Satan can be. He portrays himself as an angel of light and lures people until he has them under his control. Enchantment with drugs is one of his newest devices and now you are aware of it.

Before I conclude this teaching, I want to tell you a true story of what recently happened to me while walking my dog on a deserted mountain road. It is a sad story in many ways – very sad and caused by the adversary’s new game – enchantment with drugs. I believe this happened to help me get the point across in this teaching.

As my dog and I walked, we heard a woods bike coming toward us. We moved way off the road into the woods to let the person pass. Strangely enough, the driver stopped, turned off the engine, and took off his helmet. He was a young person only 16 years old. I struck up a conversation with him and he seemed rather talkative. As we left in opposite directions, he told me he would see me on his return route. He stopped because he thought I may be a hunter or from the Game Commission. [Motorized vehicles are not allowed on this road.]

He seemed intent on meeting up with me again and I realized that he seriously needed someone to talk to. He told me that he liked talking with me. Sure enough, he came back in our direction and he stopped the bike and actually pushed it along in order to carry on a conversation. Many times, people will be very willing to share their heart with a believer, even though you are a stranger.

To make a long story short, he was caught at his high school with a type of drug, a few pills, that his mother took for a supposed attention disorder. He said his mother had this problem, his friend did and so did a lot of other people. He said he was trying to help his friend at high school. The end result: HE WAS EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. This was due to the drug advertised on television for attention deficit disorder (ADD). I could tell he missed school very much, but said he was never returning. Inside I knew he was hurting and I did what I could to comfort him. He wanted to know when I walked the trail and at what times. He acted like he wanted to talk with me again. Inside he was probably very bitter. His life was headed for ruin at a young age. And the strange part of it all is that I never saw him again. Could you picture being in this person’s position at 16 years old? Who stole this child’s school life from him and practically destroyed his future educational opportunities? He made a mistake and the adversary took every advantage of the situation to possibly ruin this child’s life. He told me that he felt that many people actually took pleasure in his demise. There are people like that – they run to car accidents and fires to watch others suffer. This type of person is mentioned in Proverbs as one of the things that God hates.

Proverbs 6: 18 –- An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

Again, who stole part of this child’s life from him?

John 10: 10a -- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: . . . . . . . .

The enemy is a parasite and can only work through people. What is the device that the enemy uses as the source of all evil in this world? He has infiltrated the minds of many people involved in the drug and pharmaceutical companies with the root system of ALL evil.

I Timothy 6: 10 – For the love of money is the root [root system] of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

There is nothing wrong with money – it is the LOVE OF MONEY from where all evil originates in this present world. Drug companies are making billions of dollars from people who know nothing of God’s Word nor could care less.

An informed Christian knows that we deal with spiritual matters each day. It appears like we deal just with people, but we do not! The Word of God clearly states this truth in Ephesians. Who do you choose to believe – man or God? It’s up to you.

Ephesians 6: 11 -- Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles [methods] of the devil.

Ephesians 6: 12 -- For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places [from on high].

That is what the Word of God says and that is what the Word of God means.

The devil is trying to get everyone he can dependent on some type of drug, whether they need it or not. Why? So they will not turn to God’s Word for deliverance, but to a counterfeit temporary ‘fix’. Once a person gets delivered from a devil spirit influence, by believing and acting on God’s Word, the devil spirit must find a new person to afflict. The enemy knows the power in God’s Word when believed and he will do anything to keep you away from the only thing that defeats him – THE RIGHTLY DIVIDED WORD OF GOD.

God’s justice always prevails over evil. If there are drug manufacturers that are purposely deceiving millions of people to use their products when it is not necessary, God’s Word tells of their fate and God is not a man that He can lie.

I Timothy 6: 9 -– But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare [a trap], and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition [ruin].

Colossians 3: 25 -- But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Now you know the TRUTH regarding the present barrage of prescription drug advertisements seen on every network on television. As Jesus Christ said to those who believed on him:

John 8: 32 -- And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
