The Works of the Unbeliever

I realize that this teaching may be considered most unusual.  But from what I see in the world today, the works of the unbeliever must be exposed.  There are very few people that are studying the Bible.  They are more interested in their iPhone or their trucks or any other type of idolatry.   You must learn and strive to keep God first.

First, we will describe this subject as being wicked.

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your  [scratch ‘your’ – it’s in italics] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he [Jesus Christ] reconciled.  – Colossians 1: 21

Let’s examine the word wicked as it was used in biblical times.  It means to cause or to have labor, sorrow, and pain.  It brings evil to others.  I believe this should get the point across.  But I want you to notice something about Colossians 1: 21.  When you are alienated from God’s Word, you practice wicked works.  Many people who are not born again will suffer this dilemma.  However, Jesus Christ reconciled you back to God if you believe Romans 10: 9, 10.  At times we just don’t believe this and we continue to suffer even though we know that Jesus Christ paid for all of our sins.  Some of the bad things that we can do is to continue to sin after we are born again of God’s spirit.  This results in wickedness and wickedness in our mind.

Here is another example that can describe wickedness.

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us?  And who knoweth us?  - Isaiah 29: 15

Wickedness or the works of the unbeliever is done in a way where that wicked person thinks that they can hide their counsel from the Lord.  They think that their works are in the dark and no one could see them.  I can’t help but remember seeing the stupidity of criminals.  They think that they can get away with being wicked and evil, but their methods are completely obvious and that is how they get caught.  People who turned their back on God and practice the works of the unbeliever think that they are getting away with it.  And all the while, God, can see everything that is going on everywhere.  So do not think that you can fool God.  It is impossible to do so.  I remember things in my own life where I did things that weren’t correct, especially before I was born again.  I often thought that no one could see me and no one knew what I was doing.  But I was wrong and I found out that I was wrong once I became born again of God’s Spirit.

So now we have described two different ways pertaining to the works of the unbeliever.  One had to do with the wickedness and a description of that term.  The second one had to do with performing wickedness in darkness.  But we know that this is not true and cannot take place – God sees all.  At this point, we are going to go over the different subjects that have to do with the works of the unbeliever.

One of the most treacherous works of the unbeliever can be referred to as something which is abominable.  This type of behavior goes against the Word of God.  It is blasphemous and the only thing I can think of is it is like a man going with a married woman.  The price for this is beyond what you can ever imagine.  There was a time in my life when I had my wife and another person was flirting with me to a great extent.  I found this person to be very attractive to me and I found myself in situations with her that were questionable.  I never did anything wrong as far as what you may be thinking but this was abominable behavior as concerning God and my most faithful wife.  In fact, I am surely sharing my heart with you and I finally told her about this relationship which was based on a business venture.  When I got this off my heart, I felt a great relief, but I felt badly for my wife.  However, she is as strong as steel and forgave me as soon as I told her.

Let’s face it guys, we give into temptation very easily and I would only say to you  don’t ever do it.  Never.  It will eat away at you for year after year after year like it did for me.  I don’t want to blow my own horn, but I was known as a quite good-looking guy.  In high school I was chosen as class most handsome.  This can work against you since many women are treacherous and abominable and just love to steal a man from another woman.  I think you have a rough idea of what it means to be abominable.  Spiritually, it is referring to sin against God Almighty.  The point is that God and your wife may forgive you, but can you forgive yourself?  That is the major point.  Now, let’s finally get to the Scripture that talks about this subject in more general terms.

The fool hath said in his heart, there is  no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is  none that doeth good.  – Psalm 14: 1

Now this example has almost nothing to do with the previous modern example.  But we need to look at the context and see that it is the fool who says in his heart that there is no God.  He is corrupt and has done abominable works.  This is more on a spiritual level than the first example.  This person is actually saying and believing that there is no God.  How can anyone think such a thing?  Just look at things like childbirth and beautiful animals and situations similar to these two.  How can anyone say that there is no God?  This is abominable behavior and as a result of being corrupt.  When you turn your back on God and you do not study His Word, you eventually become corrupt and you will do abominable works pertaining to your life and to others and to God Almighty.  So you see, in this teaching, we are nailing the works of the unbeliever.  We’re exposing him for what he really is and there is a lot more to come.

Now the following shows the opposite of a man who does abominable works as concerning results.  And the Scripture also shows you the blessings of a righteous man who respects God and studies His Word and applies His Word.  Let us let God do the speaking.

The wicked worketh a deceitful work:  but to him that soweth righteousness shall be  a sure reward.  - Proverbs 11: 18

Here we are talking about another attribute of the works of an unbeliever.  Not only is he wicked but he lives a deceitful life.  He lies to people and he can never be trusted because he’s full of deceit.  Have you ever met someone like that?  But in contrast, God says that the believer who sows righteousness in his or her life – there shall be a sure reward.  Notice how God words things.  He doesn’t say it’s just going to be a reward, He says that it will be a sure reward.  No question about it.  So now we learn even more about the abominable unbeliever.  He is full of deceit and lies.  If there’s one thing I just cannot stand, it’s a liar.  When I took an extensive biblical research and teaching class, one of the benefits of taking this class was that you were able to separate truth from error.  I found this to be magnificent because I can do it practically every time.  You have to be real sharp and you need to know how the adversary works, but you can separate truth from error so that the deceitfulness of an unbeliever comes right to the surface for you and you can’t be fooled.  Isn’t that just tremendous?  It has been one of the greatest benefits I have ever received by taking this extensive Bible class.

When you’re working the Word of God, you become more and more like Jesus Christ.  His brethren was not near as strong as Jesus Christ in a spiritual manner.  So we are going to look at what Christ said in John 7: 7

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.  - John 7: 7

He was speaking to his brethren and he was trying to express the greatness that the world had as far as hating Jesus Christ.  The enemy was planning to crucify Jesus Christ.  However, if I may make a comment here, many times the world has hated me and tried to do everything it could to stop me from studying and moving God’s Word.  So many treacherous things have happened to me that I cannot even reveal them to you.  But I always made it through and I came out successful.  Jesus Christ says that the world hates him because he tells the truth pertaining to the world.  He says he testifies of it and that the works of the world are evil.  So now we talk about abominations and about deceptions and what works hand-in-hand with both of them and that is evil.  Again, we are illustrating the works of the unbeliever.  Unbelievers are dangerous people and you should do all that you can to keep away from them.  Trying to make friends with an unbeliever is a disaster.  The reason I can tell you this is based again on my experience.  I was basically a very friendly person to almost everyone.  And then I had someone cross me for no reason at all.  I had a friend who was a woman who was going to come to our fellowship.  I wrote her an email and I tried to get her in the correct state of mind because what she was about to do was a serious thing in her life.  I tried to prepare her for what was about to take place.  She turned on me and wrote back and said that she wanted no part of my fellowship because I had upset her by what I had written to her.

One more example:  I had a woman from far away who used to call me every so often and rave about my teachings and copy them all and kept them on her kitchen table.  One day she lost her job and this is exactly what happened.  I wrote to her and I said, now get this, “Is everything okay?”  This girl went ballistic on me because all of the while she was nothing but a counterfeit and I sensed that for a long time.  She thought that I was making an assumption that she did not have enough strength from God’s Word to make it through her dilemma.  So she took it out on me and I realized that she was absolutely insane.  She was also going to a fellowship where she lived where the believers were speaking in tongues and interpreting by about four or five at a time.  This is strictly off the Word.  Corinthians clearly states that we are to operate the manifestations no more than three at a time.

I don’t mean to tear people down.  I am showing you and hopefully giving you a warning that you must be careful with people who act like they are believers when in reality, they are not believers, but they are unbelievers.  They will hurt you the first chance they get and Satan waits for that moment.  It surely hurt me for a while but I got over it and I would not give anything in the world to be these people.  I said it before – you cannot sleight an innocent person who is a believer.  It will eventually eat at you like a cancer and the only way you can get delivered is to go to that person and to apologize to them from your heart.

The next subject that we should discuss is stated clearly in the book of Galatians chapter 5, verses 22 and 23.  We should quote those verses before we begin our explanation.

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:  against such there is no law.  -- Galatians 5: 22 – 23

These are noted as the fruit of the spirit and are a result of the operation of the nine manifestations that are mentioned in Corinthians.  If you operate the nine manifestations of Holy Spirit, you will manifest more and more of the fruit of the spirit mentioned in Galatians.  So now we clearly see that another attribute of an unbeliever is the deceit that they are unfruitful.   You should also be able to understand that the term longsuffering means patience.   The fruit of the spirit is what makes your life joyful and full of all the positive things that are mentioned in Galatians.  Although an unbeliever may act like he has the fruit of the spirit, he does not.  It is not available to him – he puts on a front which is nothing but a counterfeit.  You also have to be careful around these people because they will put on a good act and it may fool you into doing or believing something that is absolutely not true.  We should now be able to understand what it means to be unfruitful and that the unbeliever is definitely unfruitful as far as the genuine is concerned.

Now we are going to move on and take a look at God’s attitude towards the unbeliever concerning his works.  It would be a good idea to go back to the Old Testament and study Chapter 8 of the book of Amos.  We are going to focus on the following verse.

The Lord hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.  -- Amos 8: 7

The Lord is talking about deceit and those that swallow up the needy and make the poor of the land to fail, among other things.  God is saying that He will surely never forget any of the works of the unbeliever.  Many unbelievers think that they are going to get away with their lifestyle, but it always catches up to them.  Everyone gets back what they got coming to them.  I’m sure you all heard this saying before.  Giving equals receiving.

I would like to mention something that we have gone over many times, but it will not hurt to go over it once again.  You can see in the above verse that God says that he will never forget any of their works.  Well, God is spirit and is using the figure of speech called Condescensio which is taking on the attributes of a human being.  This is called a figure of speech and it is meant to express the more important points that are mentioned in the Word of God.

The next verse that is mentioned in the book of Proverbs is quite interesting because it talks about a similar subject in the previous verse.  Let’s go right to the verse.

If thou sayest, Behold, we know it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it?  and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not  he know it?  and shall not  he render to every man according to his works?  -- Proverbs 24: 12

You should begin to read verse 10.  We need to always remember this as believers that walk with the power of the true God.  Many times there will be much adversity and we are not to faint in our minds.   God will always come through for us but we cannot give up in our mind.  We must persevere and keep God and His Word first and we will always become victorious in everything that we do.

So the above verse, the second half of it, can refer to the unbeliever receiving back in return for what he gives out.  But in this case, God is talking about rewards.  He is saying that man will render to himself rewards according to his works which are righteous.  So we have another advantage over the unbeliever.  We have rewards to look forward to in this life if we do not faint in our mind.   Believe me, this is something I myself need to remember.  I am under a lot of pressure doing these teachings.  I may have reached about 1 million people and the enemy sees the accuracy of the teachings and it infuriates him.  I have learned the Scriptures that I need to know such as “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  And another Scripture is in the book of Romans that says that in all things I am more than a conqueror through him who loved me.  You really need to tell yourself that life should be this way for the present time.  What good is the power of God in Christ in you if you never use it?  What good is it if we don’t give the devil a migraine headache every single day of his life?  How many of you are serious about this website?  How many of you really realize the massive power that we have at our fingertips?  How many of you have tried it out?  Give God a try and he will blow your mind.  I am now 66 and in practically perfect health.  I am driving a car for about 45 years and I never had an accident.  I had a comprehensive blood panel done on myself last year.  My wife who is a specialist in hematology said that she had never seen levels near-perfect in all of her career.  I must say one more thing before we move on and that is to keep variety in your life.  Do not do the same things over and over again every single day.  Your life will be very predictable and the enemy will set you up.  This thought just came to me and I was compelled to mention it to you.  When you keep doing things in a different manner, you throw the enemy’s timing off and he cannot predict what you are going to do next.  Actually, this is one of the ways to receive rewards according to your works.  Keep it simple – as simple as you can.

I don’t like to get into the book of Revelation.  That administration is in the future and those people that go around knocking on doors - you should knock on their heads.  I got so sick of them knocking at my door that I invited five of them in my house at one time.  They sort of was a little bit shocked when I took out my Bible that is extremely well worn and I started to ask them in a very nice way. “Well, how can this be?”  Look what it says in the book of Romans.  Now I don’t see how this can all make sense.  You are saying that we are in the book of Revelation and Romans is saying that we have escaped the wrath to come.  Now either your church is correct or God’s Words is correct.  Well, one of the new people started to agree with me, and their elder, a young woman, with the devil in her eyes stood up and left within a matter of one minute.  That group of people never came back to my home again.  There are many people like this that think we’re in the book of Revelation.  So I just want you to look at chapter 20 verse 13 and take a look at the end of that verse which says “they were judged every man according to their works.”  There it is again.  You want to take my advice and stay out of the book of Revelation.  Jesus Christ has not returned yet.  Please read the Seven Administrations which will help you greatly.

The next and final section of the works of the unbeliever will be in relation to the believer.  In more simpler terms this is how the believer’s relationship should be concerning the unbeliever.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand:  let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour [implements] of light.  – Romans 13: 12

God wants us to cast off the works of darkness – to get rid of the works of the unbeliever and not to fellowship with them in any way at all.  In contrast to this way of living, God wants us to put on the implements of light, which is His Word.  By renewing your mind to the Word, this will increase your power of the true God in your life.  We will also be able to more easily recognize the works of darkness.  The next verse continues to follow the same subject and mentions basically the same thing.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  –- Ephesians 5: 11

There we can see the same guidance as we saw in Romans chapter 13 verse 12.  God is telling us outright not to have any fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.  Notice that God again mentions the word unfruitful.  He also says that the works of the unbeliever are darkness.  We are not to fellowship with them in any way, but when we get an opportunity we are to reprove them.  We are to tell them where they are wrong and to do this with the love of God.

As a final point, God promised to deliver us from the works of the unbeliever.

And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me  unto his heavenly kingdom:  to whom be  glory for ever and ever.  Amen.  -- II Timothy 4: 18
