THE LAW OF BELIEVING

(Part Two)

***Important Note: It is strongly recommended that you reread Part One of this teaching first if you desire to get the most out of this very important Biblical concept.

In Part Two of the Law of Believing, we are going to discuss the cause of fear and how to overcome it. You will learn that there is only one thing that defeats the believer.

By now, we should know that BELIEVING EQUALS RECEIVING. It is a LAW. As one believes, he receives -- either positive or negative. We either have FAITH or FEAR. We are what we are today because of our believing and tomorrow we will be where our believing takes us. We believe what we believe because of what we have been TAUGHT.

In its least common denominator, FEAR IS THE BELIEVER'S ONLY ENEMY. There is only one thing that ever defeats the believer and that is fear. Fear is sand in the machinery of life. When we have fear, we cannot believe God and have faith. Fear ruins more Christian lives than anything else. Where does fear come from? Let's see where it does not come from:

II Timothy -- 1: 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

FEAR DOES NOT COME FROM THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST -- our heavenly Father. Fear is taught to us by the world and by the god of this world who is the devil, the adversary, Satan and his many other names. THE WORD OF GOD SAYS SO IN:

II Corinthians 4: 4 -- In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I once knew a person who wanted to argue with me on this point. He said "How can the devil be the god of this world?!" And this is from a person who once told me to "Leave the Bible alone." Apparently, he never read it, did he? You see, the god of this world will try to do this to you -- get you to doubt the integrity and accuracy of God's Word. WHY? Because it is the only thing that DEFEATS AND PARALYZES HIM! If he gets you to doubt God's Word, he's got you. Don't pay attention to idiots like this. Study the Word, speak the Word, stand on it and don't budge. It shouldn't be hard to see that the system of this world is corrupt and evil. You need to look behind the scenes. The ONLY way you can stay positive and blessed in this world is if your mind is in the Word and you are putting on the mind of Christ. Why? Because, only the Word of God rightly divided and being understood and applied will deliver a believer from fear. You are standing for God Almighty. Do you think HE will let you down? I believe this because the Word of God tells me and I believe it is true and expect it to come to pass and it does. When a gainsayer or contradictor of the Word approaches you, turn to Romans and let God speak.

Romans 10: 11 -- For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed [DISAPPOINTED IN HIS OR HER EXPECTATION].

We must learn to discipline our mind to believe the Word and not the world. One is the way of life and the other is the way of death. When you stand for God without any fear in the midst of the enemy's attacks, Jesus Christ stands up on the right hand of God and backs you up. And it is my prayer to God for everyone studying this with a pure heart that God will bless you and protect you from the idiots -- the god rejecters -- the people who the enemy sends to you to tear you from the Word of God. And I believe that God will [already has] answered this prayer. There is a proverb that says if you try to love a scorner, he will hate you even more. Just politely excuse yourself and get away. Job's friends were referred to as 'miserable comforters'. Do you know what he did with them? He got rid of them. Never waste time witnessing to someone who simply won't believe. The Bible was not written for the unbeliever.

Now we have determined that fear is the believer's only enemy and that fear does not come from God -- it comes from the god of this world. The enemy never comes right out and shows his true colors. He works in very deceptive ways as he infiltrates the world with fear since he knows this will defeat the promises of God in a person's life. The adversary knows that only the Word of God can result in a person getting rid of their fear. So where do you think he is going to focus all of his efforts? He is going to try to 'blind' people from "the light of the glorious gospel of Christ" WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD.

THERE ARE BASICALLY TWO (2) CAUSES OF FEAR WHICH RESULT IN UNBELIEF. Fear is due either to:

1) WRONG TEACHING or 2) IGNORANCE

God keeps things simple -- the world complicates matters. How do we overcome wrong teaching? By RIGHT TEACHING from God's Word. How do we overcome ignorance? It may be corrected or overcome by INSTRUCTION. Now that is not hard to understand.

Example: If a person is full of fear because he is ignorant about a particular subject, he may overcome this ignorance, which is causing fear, by right teaching or right instruction. Many people think they are teaching their children to behave by lying to them and therefore putting fear into the heart of their child. I'm sure you've heard of a parent telling their child that if they don't behave and go to sleep, the "boogie man" in the closet will come out and get them. Then the parents wonder why the child is afraid to sleep in the dark and is full of fear and wakes up screaming in the middle of the night. WHY IS THAT CHILD FEARFUL? BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN WRONGLY TAUGHT. HE IS FULL OF FEAR BECAUSE OF WRONG TEACHING.

Often this is the case with adults. We are full of fear because of WRONG TEACHING. And this wrong teaching originates from the world and NEVER from God's Word. The world will bring you nothing but doubt, worry, and fear while God wants His people to be bold and full of believing, full of power, full of positives. What you choose to put into your mind determines the outcome. You either believe for positive results by knowing and applying the Word of God, or you believe for negative results by depending on the arm of man, instead of the arm of God.

Let's give an example of IGNORANCE: Let's get back to the man who didn't believe that the god of this world was the devil. He also believed in leaving the bible 'alone'. He was able to read the Bible and called himself a Christian but he refused to take any ACTION on what the Word says. He simply refused to believe the Word of God. He was a hearer, but not a doer and he deceived himself. It wasn't wrong teaching that was the problem. He simply IGNORED THE TRUTH. That is IGNORANCE. Many believers fall into this category. They go to church and through all the motions but when it comes right down to it, they refuse to study and learn the Word. The hearers are many, the doers are few.

James 1: 22 -- But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

It is never God's Will for us to have fear. So we must LEARN HOW TO OVERCOME ALL OF OUR FEARS. We have been living on negatives for so long that when someone comes along with a positive diet, we think there must be something wrong with him or her. Of course, God wants us to know what is going on around us, but bury yourself in a newspaper or the 6 o'clock news every night and you will flood your mind with negatives. Accidents, murders, suicides, all negative. Why? To keep you from believing positively and reaping positive results. Jesus Christ said that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God. So then we need some 'bread'. We must live and function in this world but we are not a part of it. You need to BALANCE your walk with God. Don't get entangled with the world or you will never believe in a godly positive manner.

There is only one thing that will rid you of your fear, your frustrations and your anxieties. YOU HAVE TO BE BORN AGAIN OF GOD'S SPIRIT, FILLED WITH HIS POWER. Your key to power is to RENEW YOUR MIND to the Word and apply it. THAT IS THE POWER WHICH WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Again, the answer is very simple.

Matthew 6: 33 -- BUT SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS; AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU. [emphasis added]

II Timothy 1: 7 -- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

WHERE DO WE GO TO GET DELIVERED FROM ALL OUR FEARS?

Psalms 34: 4 -- I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

This is the only way we will get delivered from all of our fears. Fear is from another source other than God. Fear is always negative. The wrong teaching of the world results in our fears -- along with our own ignorance.

Matthew 15: 13 -- But he [Jesus] answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Any and every influence in your life that is not based on the accuracy of God's Word shall come to naught or nothing. These influences only lead to imprisonment.

And finally, in conclusion of Part Two of the Law of Believing, let's look at what is God's Will for all of us who do our best to keep Him first. God does not want His believers to be ignorant, but to know the score.

Matthew 10: 16 -- Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

It's God's Will that we be "wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Then it must be available since this is mentioned in many other areas of God's Word. Let's look at a few more.

Romans 16: 19b -- ........... but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple [harmless] concerning evil.

James 1: 5 -- If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

If we want wisdom, we are to go to God because God wants his people to be wise. Where does this wisdom come from? It comes from the Word of God as is stated in Psalms.

Psalms 119: 105 -- Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

THE WORD OF GOD IMPARTS WISDOM RESULTING IN RIGHT TEACHING AND INSTRUCTION, WHICH IN TURN, UPROOTS FEAR OUT OF OUR LIVES.

THE WORD OF GOD IMPARTS WISDOM REGARDING EVERY SUBJECT NECESSARY FOR MAN'S COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE OF HIS REDEMPTION AND OF HIS SALVATION.

THIS GIVES US CONFIDENCE AND HELPS US TO BELIEVE AND TO MANIFEST POSITIVE RESULTS IN OUR LIVES BECAUSE WE ARE NO LONGER IGNORANT, BUT ARE WISE. WE NO LONGER HAVE FEAR BECAUSE WE HAVE AN ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WORD.

This is how we rid ourselves of fear in our minds -- we replace the darkness of this world with the light of God's Word.

In conclusion of Part Two, we see that fear is the believer's only enemy in it's least common denominator. The two causes of fear are:

1) WRONG TEACHING or 2) IGNORANCE

They can be overcome by: RIGHT TEACHING and INSTRUCTION from God’s Word.
