The Peace Of God

Have you ever noticed how man is always searching for peace? The world will offer you a counterfeit peace, but it is fleeting – it simply doesn’t last. Before you know it, you are back in the same rut and again you must go out in the world searching for peace. It’s like a revolving door and you’re sick of it – admit it.

The peace of God is a totally different thing. It is lasting and it is so soothing and comforting and relieving and is actually is beyond our understanding!

Philippians 4: 7 – And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall (absolutely) keep (guard) your hearts and minds (thoughts) through (in) Christ Jesus.

How’s that by comparison? At times you will feel so peaceful, that you won’t even understand it. You can apprehend it, but you cannot comprehend it. That’s God’s love and Will for every born-again believer. But how do we get this peace? It is simple. We must do the Will of God and that means to do what the Bible tells us to do. We don’t argue with God. We simply do what He says.

Colossians 3: 15 -- And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

How do we apprehend the peace of God?

Isaiah 26: 3 -- Thou wilt keep him  in perfect peace, whose  mind is  stayed on thee:  because he trusteth in thee.

There it is – WE MUST STAY OUR MIND ON GOD. This requires some work on our part concerning the renewing of the mind. We must put on the thoughts of Jesus Christ if ever we are going to experience the peace of God in our lives.

Romans 13: 14 -- But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil  the lusts thereof.

The words "put ye on" literally mean to put on the same thoughts IN YOUR MIND that Jesus Christ thought. And what thoughts were they? They were the thoughts of God and God can only be known through His Word. God is His Word. So we must:

II Timothy 2: 15 -- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Let me tell you something here and I would like it to sink as deeply into your hearts as possible. Studying God’s Word is fun!!! When you can push all the pride aside (which is actually fear), you will actually enjoy studying God’s Word immensely. I’m doing it for about 36 years. Why? I don’t get paid any monetary rewards for studying or teaching – not from people. God meets all my needs and then some. I get the biggest thrill out of learning all the promises in the Bible. There are over 900! How many do you know? The Word of God is the only truth in the world. Why in the world would you want to make any other learning a priority over God’s perfect Word? It makes no sense to me – in fact, it is unsound thinking. Only God’s Word makes your mind sound and whole. It gives you WHOLE THOUGHTS while the world gives you half thoughts.

II Timothy 1: 7 -- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear (moral cowardice); but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. [emphasis added]

I believe the Creator of life knows the best way to live it, don’t you? The persistent study of God’s Word will allow you to have greater and greater peace in your life. Why would you want to settle for less? God’s Word makes the greatest men and women alive today and teaches you how to live life in the fast lane. There’s a surprise around every corner. Why would you want to live your life settling for what the world has to offer and become a coward? In your heart, you know you do not want to settle for counterfeit dreams, desires and aspirations while the true God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gives ONLY the genuine. EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IS SEARCHING FOR TRUTH. And there is only one source of truth. Everything else is simply facts and are very often unreliable. God’s Word works with a scientific precision and a mathematical accuracy EVERY TIME.

Numbers 23: 19 -- God is  not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:  hath he said, and shall he not do it?  or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

When God tells you something, He ALWAYS keeps His Word. You see, He cannot lie. Isn’t that a comfort? The Word of God says that every man is a liar. So whose arm are you going to put your trust in? Man’s or God’s? This is your free will decision.

Hebrews 4: 12 -- For the word of God is  quick, and powerful (living and energetic), and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is  a discerner (a critic or a judge) of the thoughts (emotions) and intents (ideas) of the heart.

This Scripture is saying that you NEED God’s Word to know what you really  want to do with your life. I found this Scripture to be most amazing when completely understood. All of my life, I never could find my great interest or vocation in life. I tried almost every job imaginable. One day I said "That’s enough" and I started to work and study my Bible and Biblical research and teaching materials every day with a relentless passion. God showed me that my true purpose in life was to teach His Word to others. What a relief it was for me to receive this revelation from God Almighty. Can you imagine? The Word of God is a discerner, critic and judge of the intentions and ideas of your  heart. You will never know what you really want to do as long as you rely on the world to tell you what to do and to manipulate you.

When you finally learn what you want to do and enjoy doing it, THEN YOU HAVE PEACE.

Romans 7: 15, 16, 17 -- For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is  good. Now then it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

You really should take a good look at these Scriptures and read them over and over again. Why are you doing the things that you hate to do, and you find yourself NOT doing the things that you really want to do?! It is because of sin that dwells within you. I did not write the Bible. I am witnessing to it – truth does not need any defense.

This group of Scriptures always perplexed me for a great part of my life. Why was I doing things that I did not enjoy as compared to things that I REALLY WANTED TO DO? Finally, I figured it out. I was, in reality, practicing idolatry which is defined as keeping anything before God. Let’s look at what should be a familiar Scripture.

Matthew 6: 33 -- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

God must be kept first and foremost if you are ever to have anything genuine added to your life. It’s your free will choice to make this decision. God wants worship and people to love Him because they CHOOSE to do so. I can tell you from first-hand experience that if you seek anything else first, EVERYTHING WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM YOU.

Study many of the teachings that we have made available to you and you will absolutely begin to manifest the peace of the true God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

May the God of peace be with you.

Colossians 3: 15 – And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
