THE
Acts Chapter
2: 1 – 4
The Original
Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Perhaps one the
greatest chapters in the Bible, and the least understood. Men and women have read it for centuries and can’t
remember what they read from one paragraph to another, from one verse to
another. Therefore when you read the Word
of God, you put on your bifocals, you put on your spiritual eyes and you really look. Because the Word of God is plainly written
and it’s as simple as ABC. And there are
always just two things that come up when you read the Word of God – 1. You
either believe what is written or 2. You don’t. It’s as simple as all that. To those who believe it, they receive the
benefits, to those who do not believe it, they receive the consequences. So God is no respecter of persons
ladies and gentlemen, God loves every person just as much as He loves any other
person. God is not a respecter of
persons, He’s a respecter of conditions. He’s a respecter of His Word. He is that which in His Word He
promised. He is not only able but He’s
willing to do what? -- perform – He’ll carry it out.
And in Acts Chapter 2, verses 1 to
4, you have the record of the founding of the Church to which you and I
belong. The
That is the sole purpose of this
teaching. This teaching will be short but extremely powerful. I want to focus on one subject at a time to
make it easier for you to learn.
[A new teaching will follow this
teaching starting with verse 5 of Acts Chapter 2].
Acts Chapter 2: Verses 1, 2, 3, 4:
And when the day
of Pentecost was fully come, they [the twelve] were all with one
accord in one place.
And suddenly there
came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared
unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all
filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.
There is the record of the original
outpouring, all of it in four verses. You
should ask yourself 4 great questions that you always ask when you are writing
something or preparing something for writing or for publication. You always ask yourself, well, who is it or
what is it or when did it occur and where did it occur?
When it comes to the Holy Spirit
field, you say who were present at the original outpouring? The Bible says that there were only 12
Apostles who received. What was it that
came on the Day of Pentecost? It was
power from on high, it was to be endued, clothed with, arrayed with spiritual
ability, spiritual power from on high.
When did it occur? It occurred at
the first hour on the Day of Pentecost at an hour of prayer corresponding to
our
Our next teaching will begin where
this teaching ends – with Acts Chapter 2 VERSE 5.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of
truth. – II Timothy 2: 15
