Sin and its Relationship to Sickness

When you get right down to it, I do not care to teach anything that appears negative.  However, by understanding the above relationship, you can only improve your health.  First, what you need to know, is that Jesus Christ could have lived forever because he never sinned.  If we could learn to sin less and less, we would have much better health and everyone wants to be as healthy as possible.  So when you think about it using this perspective, this teaching is actually a very positive teaching.  Why?  Because you'll make a greater effort not to sin/break fellowship with God and in turn, you will be in much better health.  This teaching entails a number of inherent principles that are actually very powerful.

Every time a person gets sick, it is because that person has sinned somewhere in their life.  Does this sound a bit far-fetched?  Well, this is spiritual knowledge and it is not knowledge that will agree with people who believe only in the five senses.  Let us see what God's Will is for us in the area of health.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. – III John 1: 2

Isn't this verse dynamic?  And so many times, you will hear people say that it is God's Will that they got sick.  This is nothing but nonsense.  It is NEVER God's will for anyone to be sick.  Just look at the Scripture.  He wants us to not only be in health, but also to prosper.  In this teaching, we are basically focusing on the health issue.  I sit back in amazement at how people wrongly divide the Word of God because they never read it.  These people are nothing but, as Jesus Christ said, hypocrites.

You take for instance a teaching that I did that is definitely related to health.  It dealt with alcoholism which is a terrible form of possession by the devil himself.  There was a woman who wrote to me and tried her best to insult me personally because of what was written in that teaching.  I spoke what the Word says and she told me I was judging other people.  You see, this person had a friend that was apparently becoming an alcoholic and she was trying to defend her by denying what my teaching said.  So instead of spending her time trying to help her friend, she was writing some kind of nonsense to me.  What did this tell me?  It says in the Word that when you get a lot of tribulation from Satan, it is because you are doing the right thing.  If I didn't get the enemy upset, I would not be rightly dividing God’s Word.  So as you continue your study of the Word of God, remember, you will get tribulation which is mental pressure from others.  The Word calls these people thorns in the flesh and says when it happens, that you should REJOICE because you know that you are doing something right.  I always say to people that if this website upsets them to stop reading it.  There are sites for idiots and there are sites for God's people.  Let's take a look at the book of Romans.

For to be carnally minded is  death; but to be spiritually minded is  life and peace.  Because the carnal mind is  enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. -- Romans 8: 6, 7, 8

In verse six, the carnal mind is referring to the five senses.  What does it say is the result of being carnally minded?  Death is sickness in part.  So if we want to live by the five senses just like this woman who wrote to me and tried to deny everything in my teaching and I was teaching right from the Bible, she falls in the category of being carnally minded.  That's a person's free will.  I can't change that because God gave everyone free will.  Now what does the next part of the verse say?  If we are spiritually minded, we have life (and that means life to its fullest) and we have peace.  If it just said peace, that would be enough. These are just a few of God's great promises that are throughout the Bible.  If a person refuses to believe what God's Word teaches, that's their decision.  As one person I know who was a very great man of God once said, "If people want to go to hell, that's their prerogative".  If death is sickness in part, then it stems from being carnally minded.  So the next logical conclusion must be that if we to choose to be carnally minded, we are choosing to sin.  How simple can that be?  However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, if we choose to be spiritually minded, we will experience life and peace.  Now which choice do you want to make?  You have a choice and it is not a choice that I can make for you.  You have to make this choice and God bless you, I know you're going to make the right one.

Now before I go to verse seven, I must go over the term "spiritually minded".  To be spiritually minded simply means that you are studying God's Word and you are doing your very best to apply God's principles that you've studied in your life every single day.  So I cannot help but say that if you are spiritually minded and doing your best not to sin, you obviously are in better health and you'll be sick less often.  I rarely get sick.  I can't remember the last time I was laid up in bed with some kind of fever or virus.  You must know this:  ONLY GOD HEALS.  Doctors assist God Almighty when it comes to healing of any type.  There is nothing unusual or confusing about that fact, but people must realize that it is only God that heals people.

Okay, let's move on to Romans verse seven.  I am trying my best to make this teaching as simple as it can be.  And I will tell you another idea that I hope you never forget.  You can never make something too simple.  The Word of God is very simple and that's what makes it so dynamic.  God knows that we are surrounded with complications and organized confusion, so when He gives us His Word, it is a blessing beyond any blessing we will ever get on the face of this earth.

Romans  8: 7 goes on to explain so simply more about the carnal mind.  Are you sure you know what the word ‘enmity’ means?  It means to be in conflict with something.  God clearly states that if you are carnally minded, you are in conflict with Him.  Could it be any more simpler than that?

Romans 8: 8 goes on to say that a carnally minded person cannot please God.  It has always been most difficult for me to understand why a person would choose to be carnally minded as compared to being spiritually minded.

And to give you an even better foundation regarding this teaching, we need now to go to the epistle of I John.  The following information is seriously misunderstood by most Christians and by most Christian churches and religions.

This is in verse six of chapter 3 of I John.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not:  whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. – I John 3: 6

When you read this verse,  especially the first part, it appears as if we cannot sin after we are born again of God’s spirit.  This is a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the Word of God that almost prevails throughout most of Christianity and Christian circles.  It is a lie from hell.  What that verse is referring to is the spirit of God that is within a person after they are born again.  That spirit is perfect and it cannot sin.  However, we can sin in the flesh part of our body.  We are body, soul, and spirit.  Only the spirit part is perfect.  Now we are going to take a look at I John, chapter 1.  This chapter should help clear up any confusion you may have about this subject.  As you can see, that is why the Word of God must be rightly divided so that there is no guesswork.  Guesswork or private interpretation is why there are so many different denominations.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. – I John 1: 7

What type of sin is being referred to here?  It is broken fellowship with God after we are born again.  All sins that we committed before we were born again were wiped away completely.  But the sins that we commit after we are born again, we can still remember them.  These are the sins that are referred to in the seventh verse.  When we sin by our own free will we have an advocate with the Father and that is Jesus Christ.  We tell God that we are sorry in the name of Jesus Christ and we are able to get back fellowship with God.  It is of extreme importance that we stay in fellowship.  When we are out of fellowship, we are open to any attacks by the god of this world.  And one of his main attacks is sickness.  When we get sick in any way, we should make sure that we are in fellowship with God.  I cannot stress the importance of this point enough.

Now I need to get you to understand something.  Believe it or not, because of our imperfections and our old man, we are going to sin at some point in our lives.  God says so.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our  sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us [in our minds]. – I John 1: 8, 9, 10

Every believer will commit a sin at some point in their lives because we are not perfect.  We are tempted and sometimes our old man ways come back to us and we do wrong things.  We do things that transgress the Word of God.  Sometimes, we can get out of fellowship and stay there for a long time and not realize it.  But, after a period of time we will see that things are constantly going wrong.  That is our key to knowing that we must be out of fellowship with God.  Tell God you're sorry and get back in fellowship as soon as possible.

So the lesson that we learn here is that a Christian can and will sin.  He cannot sin in the spirit of God that is within him.  But he can surely sin in the fleshly part of his body.  The key to the more than abundant life and excellent health among other blessings IS TO STAY IN FELLOWSHIP.

Now you want and need more proof that this teaching is accurate.  I do not blame you – I am the same way myself.  So let’s go again to the first church epistle – the doctrinal epistle of Romans.  God’s about to tell you something.  The context of these verses is talking about sin.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. – Romans 6: 20

When were we the servants of sin?  Before we were born again of God’s spirit (Romans 10: 9, 10)  Notice God’s terminology – ‘servants’.  Before you are born again, you BELONG to the god of this world which is Satan.  He controls your actions and your thoughts and makes you a servant of sin.  Not too much fun.

What fruit [benefits] had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed?  For the end of those things is  death. – Romans 6: 21

Where was there any fruit in your life before you were born again?  Even now we are still ashamed at those thing that we did.  I’ll tell you the truth.

Before I was born again and quite young, I just happened to have a number of girlfriends.  Even though we should forget the past, we are just not perfect.  I hurt two of my girlfriends really bad.  One I broke up with just our of nowhere and the other, I cheated on her and the told her out of a terrible conscious.  She wept like a young child.  Then she changed and nailed me to a wall.  I had it coming.  She was exceptionally beautiful.  The first girl, I broke her heart.  To this day, she will not come near me and will not give me 5 minutes to apologize to her.  Of these things, I am ashamed and the memories seem to haunt me at times.  The renewed mind changes people very slowly but surely.  However, mostly all people never see it and they treat you the same all of their lives.  Excuse my terminology, but at times, it hurts like hell.  Can some of you identify with what I am saying?………… Let’s skip to verse 23 and here is where God Almighty proves this teaching.

For the wages of sin is  death; but the gift of God is  eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 6: 23

Anyone want to argue with God?  The wages of sin is what?!!  Remember I said that sin results in sickness and sickness is death in part.  If you continuously sin, you will bring death much closer to your doorstep.  I know it sounds terrible, but God says it like it is to protect us and keep us from being deceived.  Simple example:  Did you ever hear people say “ It’s only a white lie.  Everyone lies”.  They say this just like its perfectly ok to lie.  I especially see this said on television shows time and time again.  Sure, that’s where the adversary can reach the most people at one time.  Keep lying and you may eventually (but a little sooner) call Digger O’dell.  That’s what the Word says and that’s what it means.  This is just one example.

Now let’s contrast the second part of Romans 6: 23 with the first.  In contrast, the gift of God [as a result of being born again] is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord.  The latter part of the verse is saying ‘as a result of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us’.

My oh my, living by the carnal senses (sin) leads to nothing but death or a living death which is worse.  NOW living by the revealed Word and Will of God leads us to a life more than abundant and finally to ETERNAL LIFE.  As I said before in this teaching, I can never understand how a person could choose to live by the five senses and be carnally minded than to live by God’s Word and be spiritually minded.  This is the main purpose of Absolute Bible Study.  It is to show people keys to living God’s way.  It takes intestinal fortitude and just plain old guts to stand on God’s Word and declare it to others.  I have run across a number of Satan’s followers lately trying to scare me.  Good luck!  To those God-rejecters I say to them pertaining to taking a stand on truth and not lies “YOU CAN’T HANDLE IT!”  For those of you who have written to me with so much enthusiasm and praise for the teachings,  I thank you.  Myself, I always give God the glory.  I am not above you or better than you – we are all equal.

I feel that I have presented a viable case here showing the following important points.  Let us summarize these points and close this out.  Repetitious prayer and teaching accomplishes nothing.   I believe we have covered enough points so that you can understand sin and its relationship to sickness.  God bless you and thank you for your support and prayers.

In summary:

-- SIN IS THE RESULT OF BEING CARNALLY MINDED.

-- SICKNESS IS THE RESULT OF SIN.

-- DEATH IS SICKNESS IN PART.

-- BEING SPIRITUALLY MINDED COUNTERS THE EFFECTS OF SIN.

-- Remember That Only God Heals.

-- Every believer will sin at some point in their life.

FELLOWSHIP IS THE SECRET.

Stay In Fellowship By Confessing Your Sins To God.

[Don’t get sin-conscious.]
